You Don't Need to Write Another Grant
In what seems like a lifetime ago, I earned a large part of my living as a grant writer for non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is important work and I got good at it, but writing grants to support new commissioning projects can be soul-crushing.
I can’t begin to tell you how much time I’ve wasted chasing grant funding that always seemed just within my grasp. It takes many days and a lot of work to coordinate with colleagues in crafting an application, which is followed by months of waiting as everything is on pause due to funding uncertainty. If the project isn’t selected (and grant writing is always extremely competitive), the process starts anew, adding more time and energy to the project, while creating a diminished level of enthusiasm in the collaborators as many look elsewhere for opportunities.
Pending grant applications are a unique form of arts purgatory where good ideas go to die.
Performers, we made this easy for you: we created the community, the team, the infrastructure, the project, the thematic programming ideas, even the opportunity to network with fellow pianists across the globe shady involved in the project.
And what a team it is! Collectively, our core group of 15 performers are internationally renowned, teach at prestigious institutions, release commercial recordings, perform with orchestras, tour, and are actively engaged in all aspects of their careers.
But there’s still room for you to join us.
